Forums/ Summits

The following are various professional development events/ conferences/ forums/ summits which I have attended:

Lien Centre for Social Innovation invites you to ThinkFest, for the release of Social Space 2010, the third issue of our professional magazine for community leaders, social thinkers and practitioners. This will be followed by the launch of our new book, The World that Changes the World, a mapping of the social ecosystem in 21 chapters.
For this year’s ThinkFest, we warmly invite you to join leading minds from the business and nonprofit sectors for what promises to be an exciting discussion. We ask our speakers to consider how we can develop a more empowered, liberal and creative civil society sector and citizenry to plant the seed of social innovation.

A Panel Discussion on
“Europe and Asia – dynamic regions, mutual visions”
jointly organised by the Delegation of the European Union in Singapore, the EU Centre in Singapore,
the Belgian Presidency of the EU and the Asia

You are cordially invited to attend a panel discussion on the ASEM process
and book launch on 29 September 2010 at the Orchard Hotel.
The ASEM 8 Summit will take place on October 4
of State and Government from 46 Asian and European countries, the
European Commission and the ASEAN Secretariat will meet for discussions
on key global challenges and ways of strengthening political, economic and
cultural ties between the two continents.
The Summit offers a unique and important opportunity for deepening
relations between Europe and an increasingly dynamic Asia. At the last
ASEM Summit in Beijing in 2008, ASEM leaders had the first major
discussion on how to contain the global financial crisis just as its effects
were beginning. That Summit was a key preparation for the subsequent
G20 Summits which have emerged as the new global economic governance
fora.
This year’s ASEM summit will also focus on the continuing fall
economic and financial crisis, especially on existing global governance
structures, ways to encourage more Asia
environmental protection, food security and social development – so
“sustainable development” issues – improving relations between the
peoples of Europe and Asia, and common challenges, including counterterrorism,
fighting piracy at sea and organized crime.
The EU Centre in Singapore will also be launching a new book, co

Engagement and Expectations” held in Singapore on 6 August 2010.
Please register early to learn more about the upcoming Summit, the
importance of ASEM and how it is relevant to you. This event promises to
be informative, interactive and, overall, a chance to understand more
about the importance of deepening engagement between Europe and Asia.
